Even The Rice Could Do It

My tipping point was when I came back from a month-long trip abroad.

Being among strangers and far from home led to a serious emotional imbalance.

I had a crazy schedule and many new things to adapt to.

Reiki was, unfortunately, the last thing on my list. So, I took a break, not only from connecting with my spiritual side but also from taking proper care of my physical body.

I like to think it was all worth it…

Because I believe everything happens for a reason, even if the way to get there is not always in accordance with what we think.

Getting back home was like a gift from above.

I felt like an 8-year-old who returns to his mother from a bad day at school, soaking wet and with a high fever.

Yet … the hot blanket and mom’s love seem to erase all that negative load instantly.

But I wasn’t a child anymore.

Warm milk and cookies were not going to do the trick this time.

I still felt depressed

Anxious, and not able to ground myself

Even scared of what the day had in store for me.

But, the voice in the back of my head whispered:

“Reiki is STILL here … and it can help!”

Of course, I felt clumsy and didn’t trust that I could address this imbalance on my own.

My belief that I had to feel the energy flowing pulled me further away from what really mattered. I had no idea if I was doing the right thing or what I was supposed to heal.

It was then when I decided to ask someone who’s been there before me, for guidance.

There Are No Wrong Turns, Only Unexpected Paths – Mark Nepo

A fair amount of time had passed since I last entered my Reiki Master’s office.

This time though, I immediately felt like I was in the right place.

It wasn’t my sensitivity issue that I went to him for …

Yet, it was the exact thing that visit helped me with.

Once I entered his office, I instantly saw 2 jars on a dark-wood desk in the opposite corner of the room.

Both were halfway filled with cooked rice.

• Once said: “With light”

• The other: “Without light”

I was puzzled but curious to know what their story was.

For the past 30 days, my teacher and his students sent Reiki daily to the jar labeled “With Light”.

While the rice in the other one was left alone and started to go bad, this one was still fresh and white.

Probably it wasn’t eatable, but the difference was remarkable.

It then occurred to me … like a revelation.

“Did the rice feel the light flowing?”

I’m assuming it didn’t…

Still … I had trouble relating this thought with my situation. I knew there had to be a connection, but I failed to see it.

For a moment, I was convinced that there was something wrong with me.

I felt useless and angry that even the rice could do it.

When I asked for clarification, my Reiki teacher smiled sympathetically because he knew what was happening.

I was the sufferer of my own ignorance.

Truth be told, I didn’t even know what I was missing.

That’s when he revealed to me…

The 3 Sensitivity Levels

  • Extra-sensitive;
  • Normal-sensitive;
  • Non-sensitive;

He said:

‘Don’t stress too much about them. Just be aware of their existence!’

He then went on explaining each one of them…

And it’s when I had my ‘a-ha’ moment that freed me from my blockage.

Extra-Sensitive Level

This practitioner can feel the energy immediately but not in a disturbing way.

Still…

They require a fair amount of practice to find the right balance and guide the self-treatment to their benefit.

That’s because they risk becoming distracted from their goals when they focus too much on what they feel.

It’s work you have to do with yourself in relation to Reiki.

On the other side of the spectrum, some extra-sensitive people don’t feel the energy flowing.

Paradoxically, this happens for their own protection.

This type of person usually feels what others don’t and can see things like someone’s aura or go beyond the physical layer with ease.

That’s why the universal energy flows in such a way to protect the individual.

It allows only the optimum amount to go through.

Normal-Sensitive Level

It’s a person who starts feeling the Reiki energy flowing after the first few days or soon after the 21 days of self-treatment.

The intensity might vary, but usually, the student is not too concerned with what they feel.

Non-Sensitive Level

At this level, the practitioner might feel the energy flowing after a more extended period of constant practice.

This usually happens because a deeper imbalance has to be healed first.

It can also result from a conscious or unconscious lack of trust in a divine source of energy.

Either way, it’s common for the practitioner to negate these reasons and blame Reiki or other factors.

The sad part is that very few continue through this time of confusion because false expectations blur the big picture.

Reiki Works Regardless Of Your Sensitivity Level

While it’s true that you have to give it a bit more time in some cases, Reiki still works for everybody.

Your mindset is way more important than how you perceive the flow of the universal life force energy.

Having unrealistic expectations or comparing yourself with a “successful” practitioner often leads to frustration and poor judgment.

There are ways to overcome these barriers by relying on yourself, even if you don’t feel the energy flowing as you would have hoped to.

And that’s what we’re going to discuss in the last part of this quick lesson.
