Manipura – Learn To Guide Emotions Through The Solar Plexus Chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra or Manipura is the third primary chakra of the human body. Also known as the abdominal chakra, it is located in the center of the abdomen. This is the energy center of protection and self-power.

The center for self-power refers to the ability and wisdom to guide your own emotions towards a thriving and harmonious true-self.

The world Manipura originates from Sanskrit and is generally translates as “glittering jewel”. Some translations indicate that it means “the palace of gems”.

The Meaning Of Manipura And Its Role

Its main element is fire.

Manipura chakra has a strong connection to the second chakra, Svadhishthana and the fourth chakra, Anahata.

Even though we have 7 primary chakras, each one corresponding to specific types of energy, Manipura is the place where most of our emotions are gathered.

It is the center for guiding and controlling your emotions.

If you learn how to manage them at this level, you will be greeted by inner peace, balance, and unity.

Once the Kundalini energy reaches this stage and stays here, the “trials” for learning your innermost restlessness will begin. You learn that every negative and positive exterior manifestation has a root into a deep unhealed or healed thriving emotion.

One phrase that inspires me is found in the book “Dhammapada”: “Conquering the true-self is indeed stronger than conquering entire nations”.

Where Is The Solar Plexus Chakra Located

Manipura is located approximately once inch (or three fingers) above the navel, in the abdominal area.

It has a symmetric back-projection, located between the kidneys.

Manipura Symbol And The Meaning Of Its Color

The main element of this chakra is fire. That’s why its color is bright yellow.

The solar plexus chakra is considered in Hindu philosophy, a distribution point of energy and willpower from the Universe to our physical world.

It is also a symbol of mental development and meditation.

Manipura chakra is depicted as a 10 petal lotus flower. According to different beliefs, the 10 petals represent the 10 types of subtle energy that we use with different purposes and functions.

Other beliefs suggest that the 10 petals are the 10 blockages that one needs to overcome in order to fully open Manipura and grow from a spiritual perspective.

These emotions are jealousy, ambition, sadness, foolishness, delusion, fear, disgust, shame, ignorance and treachery.

The shape of the downward-pointing triangle contained within Manipura, suggests a symbolic energetic gate that absorbs cosmic energy and brings it into the world.

What does the Solar Plexus Chakra Control

At A Physical Level

Manipura is responsible for the health and balance of the stomach, liver, gallbladder, large intestine, and pancreas.

Considering this, it has a very important role in coordinating the digestive system.

It also helps the insulin production process to properly function, and contributes to the neurovegetative system.

Together with the second chakra, Svadhishthana, it promotes the balance and health of the kidneys.

When the solar plexus chakra opens, you feel healthy at the physical level.

Some practitioners suggest that Manipura is also responsible for the sense of sight (together with Ajna).

The Emotional And Energetic Levels

Manipura is responsible for generating the energy filed for protection.

Therefore, anytime you have fear or stress, this energy field will decrease and give you the feeling of an “empty stomach”.

It coordinates positive emotions such as courage, strength, proper organization, order, confidence, and cheerfulness;

When Manipura is in balance we feel happy and joyful!

It helps with the state of relaxation as well as the clarity of thinking.

Through Manipura, some of your negative emotions like frustration or panic will manifest as well.

Unfortunately, there are people who willingly or unwillingly have developed a negative ability to drain others of energy. They are called energetic vampires and they should learn how to grow their own energy instead of taking it from other people.

The reason I’m saying this is because Manipura is the most exposed to energetic vampirism. You can use Reiki very efficiently to protect yourself from situations like this.

What Happens When The Solar Plexus Chakra Is Blocked

One of the first signs that indicate a blockage is the need or/and fear of authority.

Together with criticism and reflection, these negative aspects make us feel somehow exposed or unworthy of a harmonious connection with others.

This is, of course, a false idea.

This fear comes from an anger issue, which in turn has a small emotional trauma behind it.

A second one, which affects all the other chakras would be excessive jealousy.

Whenever we’re experiencing sudden moments of frustration, anger or even panic attacks, our solar plexus chakra is out of balance.

Some other signs of a blocked Manipura are procrastination and apathy.

This relates to fatigue or just simple boredom.

They are also strong signs of Manipura, Svadhishthana, and Muladhara being out of balance.

How To Heal, Open and Strengthen The Solar Plexus Chakra

One of the first things you could try is to empathize and harmonize with yourself first and then with others.

There is a whole science on loving, accepting, and understanding yourself within this world.

Let go of fears and social patterns. Instead, work to build your own path in harmony with the world around you.

Reiki is always a very good method of cleansing and activating your solar plexus chakra.

When you reach that point when everything around you fits your vision, when the room your standing in offers a sense of joy, that’s when your solar plexus chakra is in balance.

Physical activity, in general, is also recommended. Just keep in mind that any excess can lead to a decrease in your protective energy field.

Therefore do everything in balance.
