Asking The Right Questions
When starting anything new in life, many questions pop up:
“Where is this going to take me?”
or
“What are the implications, and how will this influence my life?”
Sometimes we really think about it, while other times, these questions come from nowhere. It’s actually a defense mechanism that our brain uses to help us make the right decisions.
Even when the answers are satisfying, it’s healthy to ask – “why?”
It’s an extraordinary thing that often helps us better understand what we’re getting ourselves into.
So, as a beginner, this simple exercise can help you find clarity and determine if Reiki resonates with your desires.
It might seem odd, but you first have to set these goals to attract the required elements that can help you manifest them in the future.
While this early preparation can feel fairly rigorous, the actions that will lead to your goal will be based primarily on intuition.
You don’t need to be 100% sure when starting out.
But you should at least have a sense that this is the right thing for you because the rewards take time and effort.
This stands true for most things in life, and it’s no different for Reiki.
Even more so, because Reiki is not something that you can see or touch, the answers you find are more linked to your inner desires. Their role is to set the stage and provide motivation.
Luckily, science and spirituality have more in common than most people think. Intuition will be your chaperone for now, but you’ll later discover that everything in life is connected.
Reiki is one of those things that you can’t see but feel. Its subtle influence will always help you find the optimal path for you.
What Is Reiki
Reiki is considered a “Kotodama” – in the Japanese tradition, this concept refers to the spiritual power within words – “language with soul” or “spirit of the word.”
“Reiki” has a straightforward and intuitive structure. “Rei” means “Universal,” while “Ki” means energy.
One can define Reiki in many ways. For example, you may see it as a deeply relaxing form of stress reduction or a method that promotes the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
Yet, after many years of practice, passing through various attunements, and working with fellow practitioners and students, Reiki’s definition for me has become quite clear and concise.
How I See Reiki
Reiki is a holistic Japanese practice that consists of multiple spiritual elements and levels. It enables you to place your mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual bodies in a state of healing. While the results are unique to each individual, the outcome is a general state of well-being and balance.
When you start to understand the process, an awakening gradually takes place. This will enhance your connection with your inner and higher self while improving your interaction with the world.
Everything takes place at a physical, mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual level. This is possible by channeling the “universal life force energy” through each layer and into the physical plane.
The universal life force energy is unlimited and available to us all. It represents the essence of Divinity or:
- The creative power of everything;
- The element that offers the possibility of existence as we know it in this dimension;
- A catalyst that enables organic life to thrive, grow, and evolve at all levels;
Reiki In Other Cultures
You may also find this energy as:
- Holy Spirit – in Christianity;
- Ain Soph Aur – in Jewish esoteric philosophy;
- Chi – in Taoism (or Daoism);
- Prana – in Hinduism;
- Ki – in Japanese philosophy;
- Divine light – in the Islamic tradition;
- Mana – in Polynesian culture;
- Chukwu – in African culture;
Reiki’s Philosophy
Reiki is also based on a set of principles that represent its foundation. Their role is to generate 3 positive traits:
- Forgiveness;
- Compassion;
- Honesty;
We’ll go into more detail later in the guide. Still, for now, it’s essential to understand that these are not random principles but the core of Reiki’s philosophy.
Is Reiki A Religion
It was established from the very beginning that Reiki uses the “universal life force energy,” which is available to all of us. Therefore, it cannot be part of a religion, cult, or belief system.
Everyone can benefit from and practice Reiki regardless of their gender, ethnicity, geographic location, or personal opinions.
NOTE: Similar to the effect of prayers, the concept of channeling and transmitting energy to another dates back to the ancient Hindu esoteric philosophy. It was later adopted by Buddhism and other religions. That’s why it’s vital to use it while respecting individual choices. Even if we have good intentions, we should never influence others without their consent. Accept that you don’t know what’s the best outcome for you or those involved, so ask that your efforts be guided towards the greater good of the situation.
Today, Reiki is a more straightforward and organized way to channel the universal life force energy and bring balance to our lives.
Reiki Is Not A Massage
Even though both practices can use touch to interact with the client, that’s where the similarities end.
Still, many beginners think otherwise. Which is ok…
Reiki is not a massage, nor should it be confused with one.
The main difference is that the therapist uses their physical strength to manipulate the client’s muscles during a massage. In contrast, during a Reiki session, the therapist channels energy through their hands.
There’s no need to remove any clothes as the therapist will simply place their hands above or lightly touch the clothing. Again, the focus is not on the physical body but on the subtle energy fields, chakras, or the energy centers of specific organs.
Who Is Reiki Good For
Reiki is for everybody!
The universal life force energy exists everywhere and in different manifestations. Anyone can access it regardless of their location, religion, gender, or other principles.
Specifically, Reiki is ideal for those looking to:
- Heal at a mental and emotional level;
- Remove energetic blockages;
- Lower their anxiety, stress, or depression levels;
- Handle fear, grief, or physical pain;
- Understand that we exist and “operate” at multiple levels and dimensions simultaneously;
- Heal their shadow side to find harmony and balance within their inner selves;
- Develop their awareness and access higher levels of divine consciousness;
- Explore healing on different levels and understand how they function at the energetic level;
- Change their perspective of life, discover what lies beyond the physical, and evolve from a spiritual standpoint;
Where Did Reiki Originate
Even though there are various versions of Reiki’s history, I am confident that the one I’m about to share is the most accurate.
I learned this from one of my Reiki teachers, who was a student of Hiroshi Doi – one of the few remaining Japanese Reiki Grand Masters with decades of experience. (This is different from the Reiki Grand Master system. According to him, Reiki, as we know it today, came to life around 1922 through a Japanese Shinto Buddhist, Mikao Usui.
(I say “as we know it today” because the concept of using your hands to channel the universal energy dates back millennia.)
At one point in his life, Mikao Usui was seeking a certain state of spiritual awareness, similar to what we know today as “enlightenment.”
He decided to go on this spiritual quest on Mount Kurama, a sacred place north of Kyoto. This journey of introspection involved meditation, praying, and fasting. He started his ritual without knowing how much it would take to achieve his goal.
After 21 days, Usui sensei had a flash-like experience. He saw a bright light descending above his head, engulfing his whole body. Then, he visualized how an inner transformation occurs, and the search was complete.
The story goes that he injured himself on the way down from the mountain and managed to heal by simply placing his hands above the wound. That’s when Mikao Usui integrated his ability to channel the universal life force energy.
Reiki Spreads And Evolves
With time, several of his students, like Chujiro Hayashi, the world’s second Reiki Grand Master, decided to build a school dedicated to this practice.
They were the pioneers of Reiki, establishing a systemized method of teaching Reiki at different levels. This made it easier for everyone to learn at their own pace and benefit from this spiritual practice.
During the many decades that followed, Reiki was almost extinct if it wasn’t for Hawayo Takata’s perseverance and passion. She was a Japanese-American woman who learned Reiki in Japan from Hayashi sensei and then brought it to Hawaii and the Western world.
Hawayo Takata introduced a more simple attunement process, which is still being used today when initiating students into Reiki. She also attributed the Master symbol, which was needed to perform attunements, to the Master level.
MECHANISM
The Value Of Understanding What You Are Healing
There’s nothing wrong with practicing Reiki at random.
But having a goal and a sense of what you are doing can make the process more efficient.
In this section, we will explain what happens when you practice Reiki and why this awareness can eventually return better results.
Understanding what you are healing can help you become aware of the problem’s root cause which is essential in using Reiki efficiently.
Being able to focus the universal energy in areas where it’s needed the most will lead to better results. This awareness will also help you develop a deeper connection with yourself and the universe.
We all have access to the universal life force energy, at least to some extent. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t be alive.
Having said that, when you’re engaging in certain spiritual practices, you become a channel through which this energy flows. But it’s all happening at a whole new vibration level.
Let’s break it down further.
You As A Channel
The universal life force energy source doesn’t belong to a single person or group of people. It’s simply there, available for anyone who wishes to use it.
This energy can be:
Guided – towards healing yourself and others. More advanced techniques also enable you to help heal your past and support your future so that your present actions align with your highest good.
Absorbed – by your body when you feel depleted or exhausted;
Conditioned – more controversial but still present in practice. In this case, you condition the universal life force energy to manifest towards achieving a particular goal;
Transmitted – the process of channeling energy to your past, present, and future to support specific events and help heal past traumatic moments. You may also use it for distance healing to assist those far away.
In all the above, you are the one through which the energy flows. This makes you a facilitator rather than a keeper.
For everything to work smoothly, it’s ideal to have a clean, healthy body. Then, of course, the light will have a strong cleansing effect. Still, as water runs better through clean pipes, so does the universal energy through a balanced system.
Manifestations Of The Universal Life Force Energy
There’s only one source of universal life force energy! However, it can manifest in various ways and at different frequencies.
For example:
- When you go deep into meditation, you access a certain expression of the universal life force energy;
- When you practice sports, you tap into another manifestation;
- Reiki will help raise your vibration level;
- When you’re having a good time with family and friends;
- Different locations have different vibration levels;
Moreover, the universal life force energy flows differently throughout the human body. So, for example, you require a certain type of energy in the pelvic area that’s different for the head or heart.
When you practice Reiki, the universal energy helps cleanse, balance, and energize your body to function optimally. This happens at the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels.
The best part is that it knows where it’s needed because it has been around forever.
But our awareness can better guide our intention, improving the end result.
The more you learn about Reiki and use spiritual practices, the higher you’ll raise your vibration. Of course, this will fluctuate and will never stay elevated for too long.
We all live in the physical plane and have to be grounded more often than not. Still, it’s essential to know that you can reach these levels and benefit from this connection whenever needed.
• In a nutshell, even if we’re all surrounded by this universal energy, you open even more to certain possibilities through the Reiki attunement.
• The Reiki levels are there to provide the proper knowledge at the right time so you can gradually enjoy Reiki’s full potential.
REQUIREMENTS
What Do You Need To Become A Reiki Practitioner
There are a few things to consider before starting practicing Reiki.
While there are slight variations to each step, the general process of becoming a Reiki practitioner is relatively straightforward.
This section will outline the basic requirements and what to expect from this point forward.
There are no specific educational requirements or special skills needed to become a Reiki practitioner. However, completing an in-person training or a Reiki online course is generally necessary for any beginner to learn about the basic techniques and principles.
This first step will help you form a general idea of what to expect and how to approach your Reiki sessions. You’ll also need to be attuned to a certain level of energy to be able to channel it during self-treatment.
Usually, the attunement comes first, and that’s what we’re going to discuss now.
What Is The Reiki Attunement And What Does It Do
The Reiki attunement is a method that enables students to be “in tune” with the flow of universal energy.
This ability is passed on from teacher to student, and it’s something Mikao Usui decided to implement once he realized the potential power of Reiki. By attuning others to this energy, he was essentially opening up a new world of possibility for anyone who wishes to explore it further.
The attunement was a simple “hands-on” method at the time. Today, each Reiki school adapted the process to fit its own approach, but the core remains the same.
What Happens During The Attunement: Through the Reiki attunement, the master/teacher enables the student to become a clear channel by tunning their vibration to the universal energy’s frequency. This “tunning-in” is in accordance with the level of Reiki that the student receives. That’s why the experiences vary from person to person.
Over the years, as everything evolved in both the physical and spiritual realms, the attunement was “upgraded” into a more complex procedure.
This technique aids the student in opening their energy channels, chakras, and energy fields to an abundant supply of universal life force energy.
Moreover, dedicated students such as Hawayo Takata observed that multiple levels would actually benefit the receivers. It’s why she advised against stuffing as many attunements as possible but receiving the right set for each level.
Why Was Reiki Split Into Different Levels
When he decided to venture into his spiritual journey, Mikao Usui was already a Shinto priest with a pure heart. He was able to further purify his structures through fasting and meditation, which enabled him to receive this spiritual blessing.
Whether it’s about the lack of time, will, or physical resilience, in all honesty, not all of us can say that we can do the same. Our busy lives hardly allow us to dedicate 100% to spiritual practice.
Splitting Reiki into distinct levels was something that made a lot of sense and still does to this day.
• Each individual can learn and develop in their own rhythm without being overwhelmed by the abundant energy flow.
Can You Learn Reiki On Your Own
The short answer is: Yes!
Nobody prevents you from taking it step-by-step and adding one extra layer of knowledge when the time is right.
But two major parts blend at all times to make the practice work: the attunements and the knowledge itself.
I’ll be frank!
I’ve met hundreds of practitioners throughout my life and only two who attuned themselves through self-guided meditations. These were highly spiritual individuals who constantly worked to keep a healthy physical body and balance at an energetic, emotional, and mental level.
Honestly, I didn’t even know that this was possible before I met them.
Even so, they still needed guidance with the practice itself. That’s actually the irony – there’s always someone out there to learn from, whether that’s a physical person or spiritual entity.
• I guess it’s not impossible, but it does require a very rigorous approach and a lot of time set apart for self-development.
99% need an in-person or distance attunement from a Reiki master/teacher. This should come with a set of best practices so the student is clear about what to do moving forward.
From there on, even if you ask questions and revisit notes, practice is what will make the difference. Of course, it’s easier when you have proper guidance, but the work you do with yourself will help you find answers and results.
How Much Does A Reiki Attunement Cost
The cost obviously varies from region to region and teacher to teacher. Some charge a lot of money for attunements, while others do the opposite.
There’s no hard rule.
• Today the average stands around $200 for level 1 and maybe a bit more for level 2. Usually, the prices go up for level 3 / master.
It is said that Hawayo Takata used to charge $10,000 per attunement because the westerners would put more value on money than the spiritual transfer. She considered this exchange so powerful that whoever would accept it should acknowledge its true worth.
But there’s some common sense in this as well.
- The fee always represents a trade that balances what you’re about to receive.
- Suppose the Reiki master/teacher does this for a living. In that case, they need to pay bills, taxes, and other business-related expenses that nobody can avoid.
But let’s say that money isn’t an issue… so why not pay in another form?
Because money is the simplest and most efficient way to make most services possible – That’s it!
Any gift or similar compensation will work just fine at a spiritual level. Money is just flowing energy that helps us interact in the physical world. (Read more about the energy of money in the Money Reiki system article.)
There’s a right price for everyone, and nobody should force or feel obligated to pay more than they are willing to.
How To Find A Good Reiki Master/Teacher
The practical advice would be to ask around and follow a recommendation. Still, if a close friend had a good experience with someone, this doesn’t guarantee the same for you.
• Probably the most logical approach is to attend seminars/webinars and consume content produced by various practitioners. See what you like and who you resonate with.
As one of my Reiki teachers used to say:
“You don’t find your teachers. They find you!”
Of course, this is a symbolic way of saying: “when you’re ready, the right person will show up.“
There are so many Reiki teachers in the world that it can be challenging to choose the best one. Some work only online, others face-to-face, while a few do both.
It’s more a matter of intuition and resonance than science. It’s also something that changes with time and understanding.
We attract people in our lives based on resonance – the frequency at which we function in the present moment. This acts as a spiritual invitation for the right events and people we need for our evolution.
You can alter this frequency according to the actions you take in your daily life.
That’s why sometimes we have poor experiences or meet unexpected people. Still, there’s always something to learn from each encounter and a reason why it took place.
When the time comes, you’ll meet the right person, and your intuition will tell you how to choose the best Reiki teacher for your development.
SEGMENTATION
How Many Reiki Levels Are There
Reiki levels help indicate the type of training and potential knowledge a practitioner has.
However, this doesn’t mean one is better than the other.
In this section, we will cover why Reiki levels matter and why you should consider advancing through them.
The main difference lies in the vibration that the practitioner is able to work with. It’s also one of the main reasons Reiki was split like this. It helps everyone enjoy this spiritual practice without being overwhelmed by what they receive.
This allows us to blend Reiki with our busy lives and gradually progress when the time is right.
• Some schools and teachers consider that there are three Usui Reiki levels, while others recognize the system as having four.
The latter splits the third level into 3a and 3b, where 3b acts as an entirely new degree. This seems to be the most popular and the one I was taught. Therefore, I’ll present the following through this lens.
- Each level manifests the universal life force energy in its own way;
- It also offers a specific set of knowledge;
- Additionally, each degree requires its own attunement that allows you to access that level of Reiki;
- The higher you go, the greater the potential of manifesting pure energy and compassion;
There are teachers who offer a single attunement that directly connects you to levels 2 and 3. This is how it has been traditionally done, but it can get confusing for beginners.
Of course, it’s not wrong. Still, the time has shown that it can be much more efficient to take it one step at a time.
Usui Reiki Level 1
Usui Reiki level 1 is the first step in learning Usui Reiki, and each student needs to go through it before they can be called a practitioner.
It’s a basic introductory process that reconnects you to your inner self.
However, while this may seem like a beginner’s level, never underestimate its potential. You can achieve a lot by simply having the Usui Reiki level 1 attunement. In fact, there are probably more experienced practitioners at this level than Reiki masters.
What Happens During The Level 1 Attunement
This process has the role of opening your chakras and helping you become a clear channel through which the universal life force energy can flow.
But continuous work is required to cleanse your energetic and physical bodies. It’s how you’ll gradually raise your vibration and become more in tune with the divine light.
Some of the befits are:
- Better physical health;
- Stronger mental awareness;
- A higher and more developed spiritual consciousness;
Level 1 is where you learn about Reiki, discover its fundamentals, and how to use it for your own wellbeing and that of others.
The first attunement acts like a gateway to spiritual knowledge and wisdom, and you can use it for the rest of your life.
Reiki Level 1 consists of 3 main components:
- The Reiki principles;
- Hands positions and the importance of self-treatment;
- Reiki Guides;
The 5 Reiki Principles
Mikao Usui suggested that we recite these principles every day when we wake up, as this is the source of inner healing. They form the fundamental elements on which the art of Reiki stands.
The secret art of inviting happiness. The miraculous medicine for all diseases. – Mikao Usui
Mikao Usui
- Just for today, I am grateful;
- Just for today, I am happy;
- Just for today, I am at peace;
- Just for today, I work honestly;
- Just for today, I respect and I’m kind to all life;
Join your hands in Gasho every morning and evening and say these principles from the heart!
You may see them as prayer, meditation, or a personal affirmation, but their role is to help you live a better life.
Even if they look simple, they have a deep, spiritual value. The 5 Reiki principles have the power to align your mind to the genuine reality and guide you towards being grateful.
It’s a regeneration process that also adds a thin layer of protection. Doing this daily is like eating healthy food for the soul.
What’s The Meaning Of The Reiki Principles
Gratefulness – is one of the crucial elements of spiritual growth. It acts as a catalyst for harmonizing with ourselves first and with the world around us.
Happiness – we achieve genuine contentment through being thankful for everything and everybody in our lives. Authentic pleasure is revealed when we are at peace with ourselves and our choices without being judgmental.
Detachment – is one of the hardest things to learn. Most of our worries come from unnecessary attachment or unfulfilled desires and goals. While struggling is part of life, being slightly detached from the outcome makes a massive difference to our mental health.
Honesty – we should offer it to ourselves before others. This can help align your mental and emotional energy with your inner self. It can create a harmonious vibration within you, which nobody can alter.
Respect – kindness, and consideration are the fundamental qualities on which a civilized society functions. Respecting others means respecting yourself. Being kind to others reflects how you treat yourself. Like gratefulness, kindness, and respect are fundamental elements for healthy spiritual growth.
The Importance Of The Reiki Self-treatment
If the Reiki principles represent the fundamental elements, then self-treatment is the core through which we bring the universal life force energy directly into our life.
The Reiki self-treatment offers compassion and respect to your own self while enabling you to become a beacon of light for others.
In short, the Reiki self-treatment means channeling the universal life force energy through your palms by using specific hand positions on your body. This hands-on method will help guide and focus the divine light on particular areas or energy fields that need attention.
It’s a healing process at all levels which increases the overall vibration.
This gradually leads to better physical health and mental and emotional balance while dissolving residual energy and programs.
NOTE: Remember that Reiki is not a quick fix, and results don’t come overnight.
A period of 21 days of continuous practice is recommended after the attunement. It’s a symbolic number referencing Mihao Usui’s days on Mount Kurama to receive enlightenment.
If you want to experience real change, you should do this every day for the rest of your life.
Mikao Usui
Perform the Reiki self-treatment at any time of day regardless if you’re angry, tired, or feeling low. It can only do you good because it supports the healing of your mental, emotional, and spiritual layers.
Reiki Spirit Guides
You also receive several Reiki spirit guides when you go through the level 1 attunement. These are beneficial entities of light, similar to angels or ascendant masters.
You’ll always acquire the guides you resonate with.
They will support your personal evolution and help guide you in making decisions according to your greater good. Whenever you call upon them, they’ll potentially intervene in your situation.
Sometimes the outcome might not look as you imagined. Nevertheless, it will be for your benefit in the long run. The Reiki spirit guides can see the bigger picture, which we are unable to perceive.
Even though they are light entities, their influence only develops if you work with them. You do this by maintaining a balanced lifestyle, using Reiki on yourself, and communicating with these higher beings.
With experience, you’ll become more in tune with them and start perceiving their message with more clarity when you ask for their help.
There is no fixed pattern that you need to follow.
Simply call upon your Reiki spirit guides, and they will assist you as best as they can.
You can also send them energy without asking for anything in return. This will improve your relationship leading to a “spiritual symbiosis” between your energy structures.
Know that they feel alongside you. Therefore, the more cleansed you are on an emotional and spiritual level, the better they can assist and support you in your life.
Reiki spirit guides are an essential part of Reiki!
Having a good connection with them means a higher potential for understanding yourself and your place in the universe.
Usui Reiki Level 2
Reiki level 2 brings a new perspective to this beautiful spiritual practice. This is where you start focusing more on mental and emotional healing.
After receiving the Reiki level 2 attunement, the flow intensifies, your ability to channel the universal energy grows, and you can now direct it more precisely.
The overall effect on your energy channels, chakras, and energetic structure will be profound with constant practice. This will lead to better functioning of your immune system, stimulate your cognitive abilities, and bring balance at the emotional level.
• Level 2 brings a higher overall vibration and potential for opening yourself to divine wisdom and knowledge from a more spiritual perspective.
Still, it will be up to you to access these possibilities.
Because this level focuses on healing your mental and emotional bodies, an inner change occurs. Often this manifests as an acknowledgment of specific imbalances that begin to surface. This awareness is there to guide your healing efforts, and it will not throw you off balance.
Emotional and mental health alongside spiritual evolution means facing these embodiments to better understand your inner self.
There’s a chance that you weren’t even aware of them. Your duty is to acknowledge their existence and heal them in your own rhythm.
To do so, blend the Reiki self-treatment with introspection. This means offering yourself:
- Understanding;
- Compassion;
- Forgiveness;
These 3 elements define the foundation of any type of healing. Once you start manifesting them towards yourself, you’ll also do so with others.
Usui Reiki Level 2 Symbols
Reiki symbols act as energetic keys that open doors to different manifestations of the universal life force energy. This means that they connect to a certain type of energy and vibration that helps you heal or initiate a specific action that is helpful to your life.
“Symbols are the jewels of Reiki but not the practice itself.”
You can activate these symbols in your palms before the Reiki self-treatment. Their role is to enhance the energy flow and support the mental and emotional healing process. One of the reasons they are so effective is because they can remove energetic blockages and restore the original structure.
How To Use Reiki Symbols
Power symbol – clears energetic blockages, activates and energizes energy centers, and removes negative energies from your body.

Usui Reiki Level 3
Reiki level 3, or the “Master Level,” is the highest of the traditional Usui system.
- Level 1 focuses on physical and mental detoxification;
- Level 2 enables you to heal the emotional body;
- Level 3 is when the process of spiritual awakening starts;
The attunement for level 3 further enhances the energy flow through your body and clears out most of the residual and negative energies. But, of course, you’re the only one who can keep this state through practice.
Similar to the previous levels, a period of 21 days of self-treatment should follow the attunement.
At this level, the self-treatment will gradually enable you to build a stronger relationship with your higher self. This means that your connection with the pure divine energies and information will become more apparent, and you’ll be able to manifest them in the physical world.
Moreover, the Usui Reiki level 3 self-treatment will bring significant changes to your awareness and consciousness.
As a result, you’ll develop a clear image of your spiritual role as well as an insight into the responsibilities that come with being a Reiki master.
From Beginner To Reiki Master
You should lead by example, embrace your mistakes, make them transparent, and allocate more efforts toward spiritual growth.
As a Reiki master, you are responsible and become a guide for those you attune and teach. Point them towards the correct methods, ideology, and practice, leading them on the path of light and compassion.
• You should constantly explore this level’s potential and integrate its learnings into your daily life.
• It represents a door to spiritual growth and a concept that encompasses all the fundamental values gathered from previous levels.
Usui Reiki Master Symbol
Dai Ko Myo is the Master symbol you receive through the level 3 attunement. It represents a whole concept rather than just a practical tool.
The Japanese translation is: “great house of shining light,” suggesting that the symbol encompasses the values and principles of Reiki level 3.
Whenever you add the Reiki master symbol to your practice, you connect to those values and slowly incorporate them within your energetic structure. After that, you only have to accept them.
Connecting to Dai Ko Myo’s high and pure vibration, you’ll benefit from 3 essential elements:
Light – meaning the ability to bring unaltered light into your life;
Wisdom – the knowledge you receive through meditation, introspection, and connection with divinity;
Success – which can manifest at all levels. Success can mean healing your imbalances or improving your mental and emotional health. It can also come as financial abundance or professional recognition as well as accomplishing spiritual-related goals.
How To Become A Reiki Therapist
Becoming a Reiki therapist implies helping others who are willing to find balance through energy work.
There are no special requirements apart from being attuned to Reiki yourself. Still, this can only happen after you have healed and become aware of certain aspects of your inner self. It’s when you integrate the basics of Reiki and can identify imbalances and find solutions.
But there’s no rule.
I have met practitioners who started treating others with level 1 shortly after their 21 days of self-treatment. Also, plenty of Reiki masters don’t feel confident using Reiki on someone else.
What’s worth mentioning is that being attuned and practicing Reiki is a spiritual gift. Sometimes people believe they have to do more to be complete.
However, it’s not true!
The most important thing is to focus on your journey, whatever it may look like.
Yet, you should practice Reiki on others once you’ve become more accustomed to the energy and vibration of at least the first degree
Some teachers even recommend waiting until you’re comfortable with the first two – and this is my suggestion as well.
Whatever your intuition dictates, this step implies more dedication and going beyond the standard learnings. This means studying various spirituality and Reiki books, attending seminars, or consulting with like-minded people.
But, in the end, it all leads to gaining more confidence and deepening your knowledge.
There is also that situation when close ones will ask you for help. In that case, if you both feel comfortable with it, you can treat them. Remember that you should always ask for their permission and explain what they should expect during and after the session.
Of course, it’s best to address mild issues at first. If you’re unsure what a certain condition requires or how to protect yourself against potential outcomes, just pass on the opportunity.
The Benefits Of Being A Reiki Therapist
Before working with others, you should know there will always be an energy exchange. Regardless of whether you’re face-to-face, you’ll connect to the patient’s energy print, frequency, and energy fields. This means you’ll share the same emotions, imbalances, and rarely, even physical pain.
This is not a bad thing or something to worry about.
However, being aware of the implications is the best way to prepare yourself. That’s how you’ll know when to accept and refuse a client.
But there are benefits involved for the both of you.
The patient obviously receives energy work while you expand your expertise and spiritual growth.
Those who you choose to treat act like mirrors that reflect your qualities and flaws. You can learn more about yourself in ways you couldn’t do on your own.
- That’s why this option can help you progress slightly faster on your personal journey than focusing only on your needs;
- Moreover, once you’ve decided that you want to help others with their imbalances and improve their lives, you’ll feel great satisfaction;
- It can significantly contribute to humanity’s ascension and the planet’s evolution (see Lightarian Reiki). It might sound abstract, but it’s also possible if we all contribute just a tiny bit to benefit others;
In the end, the better the light flows through you, the more efficient you’ll be in dissolving residual or negative energies. At its core, Reiki is all about spiritual purification and transformation.
When To Pass On Reiki
You can only pass on Reiki to others after receiving the Reiki master/teacher attunement. This is the equivalent to the 3b level.
Of course, it’s not something you have to do, but a choice you make if you feel drawn to it.
Some people never feel the need or desire to pass on Reiki to others, while others do it almost as soon as they are attuned.
There is no right or wrong answer.
Still, it comes with responsibility.
That’s why it’s not something you should take lightly. However, take it into account after you have integrated the energy and information of each level.
Think of it as becoming a true teacher and guide. You need a certain amount of experience and practice to feel confident enough to take on that role.
At this stage, you also have to be in tune with yourself.
When you do attunements, you have to know how to protect yourself while initiating your students. Regardless of how “clean” they are, you’ll still be going to share part of their energy.
The Benefits Of Sharing Reiki With Others
Passing on Reiki can be a wonderful experience if done right. Not only that you meet new people with various backgrounds, but you’ll also enable them to enjoy the benefits of Reik.
In turn, you grow spiritually and learn more about the practice and yourself.
Keep in mind that you should never force somebody into Reiki. You need to understand that each person has their own journey, rhythm, and choices to make. Your only duty is to be their guide, listen, and help them when your help is required.
As one of my teachers used to say:
“All I do is show them the door, and if they choose to enter, I can guide them if they want me to. Otherwise, I don’t force anyone to do anything. Each person has the right to draw whatever they want on their life’s canvas.”
PRACTICE
How To Practice Reiki
Practicing Reiki is not difficult, but if you’ve never done it before, you might be wondering how to get started.
In this section, you’re going to learn:
• What are hand positions, and how do they work.
• How to prepare for a Reiki session.
• How to set the right expectations.
Without further ado, let’s get into it!
In general, practicing Reiki is pretty straightforward whether you’re a beginner or not.
Different issues could require more complex techniques, but a simple set of hand positions will suffice for the most part.
Whenever you place your palms on some regions of your body, you directly send universal energy to yourself. You will cleanse, activate, and energize that area while bringing it to an optimum frequency.
It’s how you stimulate the energy flow and eventually heal yourself.
If you repeat the process for a prolonged period, with each session, you place your whole body into a state of energetic regeneration. With time this will echo positive effects on all levels.
Understanding The Reiki Hand Positions
These hand positions follow a pattern or can be intuitive.
The traditional teachings include multiple hand positions that help heal some of the major body parts. At the same time, a more modern approach focuses on the seven primary chakras. And… some simply follow their intuition.
So who’s doing it right?
Reiki’s flexible, so any choice is good. The best part, which is also the hardest, is to allow yourself to flow freely. This takes a bit of time and experience, but it’s the most natural.
Reiki works on intention, and regardless of how you do it, the energy will always follow your thoughts. We all have unique approaches, so the right way is your way.
Hand positions are a vast subject that requires further study. Some of you might be at that point right now, and that’s why I’ve created a simple and easy-to-follow article on Reiki hand positions that includes both traditional and modern approaches. Each hand position is briefly explained to learn what it does and how you can use it.
How To Prepare For Reiki Session
Although it’s not mandatory, a bit of preparation is always welcomed. It can signal the brain that it’s time to relax and unwind. When this happens, your mind and body align, blocking out distractions and promoting a state of pure focus.
Certain physical elements can help enhance the overall effect. They will also assist in cleansing the room and setting the ambiance for your Reiki session.
Relaxing music – can help release hormones that trigger relaxation. Moreover, playing high-vibrational music will gradually remove residual energies.
Candles and incense – frankincense and myrrh, palo santo, or various incense sticks can also dispel unwanted and negative energies from a room or house. In addition, candles have the potential of opening dimensions upon the intention and induce a feeling of serenity.
Crystals – some crystals can amplify the energy flow (amethyst, clear quartz, fluorite), while others can absorb negative energies from your body (smoky quartz, tourmaline, and black onyx).
Symbols – having symbols printed out or drawn in your proximity can also be beneficial. This is not part of the preparation process. Still, they have the power to enhance the self-treatment through their energetic connection. Some examples include the Antahkarana and OM (AUM) symbols.
At the end of the day, remember that nothing is required. Explore the different options and find a combination that suits your style. What matters is practicing self-treatment regularly and focusing on the inner self. See what you resonate with and choose accordingly.
Prepare To Receive Reiki
If you’re the patient, there’s not much to do. The Reiki practitioner will explain everything before and guide you during the session.
This is not a massage, so dress as you usually do to be comfortable and relaxed. Reiki is a healing and spiritual experience where you connect with the divine light through the practitioner.
Ideally, you should be rested and only consume a light meal before the treatment. It’s common to feel a deep relaxation and sometimes a sensation of warmth or cold. Rarely do patients experience any discomfort.
After the session, drink lots of water and avoid alcohol or heavy meals for the next 24 hours to help support the healing process at all levels.
How Long Does It Take For Reiki To Work
This question pops quite frequently, and if you’re a beginner trying to make sense of it all, it can become demotivating.
Some practitioners feel the energy flow after the attunement, while others need those 21 days to cleanse their bodies. Still, it’s not uncommon to sense the universal energy after a very long time of constant practice.
This has to do with the 3 types of sensitivity levels each of us belongs to.
3 Types Sensitivity Levels
Extra sensitive – this is when you are an empath and can perceive the emotions and feelings of others with ease. These people might notice even the slightest fluctuation of energy. In this case, it’s possible not to feel much for your protection. Without proper guidance, you could be overwhelmed with the amount of energy you receive. And we all experience what we can handle.
Normal sensitive – are those who simply need a boost in their initial practice. The attunement is usually enough to feel the proper amount of universal energy. They also begin to develop a good perception of other people’s needs and emotions.
Non-sensitive – these are usually more pragmatic people. Some might feel the flow after a long time, while it may never happen for others. This, unfortunately, leads to disappointment and eventually renouncing the practice.
The good news is that Reiki works the same regardless of which category you fit in. You might not sense the energy as much as others, but it doesn’t mean it’s not there or doesn’t work.
Most expect revelations or spiritual awakening. But, truth be told, true perception and life-changing effects become present only with time and dedication. It’s a work in progress rather than a finite game.
Reiki never ends. You just develop a better relationship with yourself through this beautiful art form. It’s a journey towards your greater good that will always happen in your own rhythm.
How Long Does It Take To Heal Specific Conditions With Reiki
“Results may vary.”
You heard this before. But it is as true for Reiki as it is for allopathic medicine.
We’ll cover how to handle certain conditions later in this guide, but it’s good to know each has unique circumstances. The effects of healing may manifest at all levels or not. While Reiki will always contribute to your overall health, it’s not magic.
Sometimes a disease is too advanced. Other times it simply takes longer to see the results that one expects. It’s also possible that spiritual/karmic implications prevent certain individuals from getting where they desire.
You can form a better idea of how many Reiki sessions are needed for an individual case by segmenting your expectations.
- The early stages are to align the patient with a higher vibration and place the body into a state of healing;
- Then you should aim to surface the true imbalances that led to a specific symptom and gradually identify the root cause;
- Only after this initial analysis, you can begin focusing on the healing part and aim for positive changes;
You may not believe it, but some people don’t want to heal. Plus many other avenues that nobody can cover in a disclaimer footnote.
The best thing is not to focus so much on the end results but on the process.
This will endlessly evolve, and you’ll constantly adapt.
Think about it!
You’ve landed on this page for a reason. And, if you’ve read this far, it means that at least a small part of you believes that Reiki works. That’s enough. Don’t overcomplicate things. Take it step-by-step, and don’t rush to conclusions. Do what feels right and worry less about the end results.
Even if you don’t feel anything at all and your problems don’t go away, you’ll at least enjoy a few moments of peace with yourself. That’s a win for many of us!
How Long Do The Effects Of Reiki Last
The Reiki attunement(s) stay with you for life.
The beneficial effects of a single Reiki self-treatment are felt throughout the following days and even weeks.
But the effects of constant Reiki self-treatment can be felt for a very long period. That’s because the spiritual and energetic changes that occur during many months and years of practice can change your overall perception.
The beneficial effects of a prolonged Reiki practice influence the energetic pattern you were used to. This will enable you to connect to a healthier mindset, leading to emotional balance.
Physically – you may feel more energized with more focus on your daily activities. As a result, your cognitive functions and your “appetite” for enjoying every moment can increase.
Emotionally – you will feel more balanced and in tune with the need to express yourself harmoniously.
Spiritually – you will potentially feel more connected to the divine energies and with your intuition.
Reiki’s positive effects will last as long as you are willing to dedicate yourself to the practice. They may vary and hopefully grow once you decide to progress from a spiritual standpoint.
POSSIBILITIES
How Can You Change Your Life With Reiki
One question, so many answers.
In this next section, we will explore:
• Our energetic structure to better understand the energy flow.
• A few benefits.
• Specific situations where Reiki might help.
Reiki is a powerful form of energy healing, but the end results still depend on individual needs and beliefs. There’s a difference between wanting something and being in the process of manifesting it.
People often want to be healed of an ailment, but their mind is focused on the negative aspects of the situation. This can be a self-fulfilling prophecy in which they believe they are not worthy or capable of healing, so they don’t.
The energy goes to where it’s needed most.
If that’s not aligned with the individual’s belief system, the healing may not occur.
On the other hand, if someone knows they are worthy and deserving of healing, and they focus their mind on positive aspects of wellbeing, then they are much more likely to experience positive results from Reiki.
So, it’s essential to keep an open mind when receiving energy healing of any kind and be receptive to the possibility of healing.
Understanding How The Universal Energy Flows And Manifests
People are not often aware of the power that exists in their own bodies and all around them. This universal energy has been used for centuries to help people heal themselves. However, having a clear view of how this system functions will make a beginner’s approach to Reiki much more efficient.
The energetic structure consists of:
- Energy centers – govern a specific part of our physical and emotional body;
- Energy fields – generated by these centers protect and keep in good health the structure of the body;
- Subtle fields – belong to our superior spiritual structures;
- Energy channels and meridians – maintain a healthy and balanced flow of energy through our bodies;
The spiritual structure consists of:
- Transpersonal chakras – the energy centers located outside the physical body;
- The finer subtle bodies – these are subtle energy fields that connect to the transpersonal chakras;
- Various types of entities – we attract them through our actions and intentions;
- Spiritual potentials, qualities, and imbalances – we acquire these during our lifetimes but also inherit them from past lives;
Interestingly enough, everything flows from the spiritual to the energetic level and all the way to the physical one. It’s never the other way around.
For example:
Our ability to understand, forgive, and offer compassion originates from the spiritual level of existence.
Whenever we manifest a quality, such as forgiveness, it starts forming at the physical level and then flows through our energetic body. In this example, forgiveness is embodied at the heart level and above our head area. From there, it transitions into the physical plane where the person receiving forgiveness feels it.
The same is true for each idea, emotion, or element that we manifest. As you might have guessed, the higher the vibration of this element, the healthier and better connected to the divine consciousness we become.
Reiki enables you to guide the universal energy through all these layers at any time. This leads to healing and spiritual growth.
What Are The Benefits Of Reiki
Now that you have a more precise picture of Reiki and how the universal energy flows, you probably agree that there’s a lot more than a feeling of relaxation and well-being.
Reiki can propel you towards healing your inner self and gradually point you to higher levels of divine consciousness.
But… before we reach such levels, most of us struggle with healing some of the basic low-vibrational emotions. As a result, we often feel that we are drifting while they take control of our lives.
The good news is that Reiki is always there, and it can help.
- The regular practice of self-treatment has the potential to dissolve the negative energies that belong to low-vibrational emotions or mental patterns. This process eventually leads to a healthier mind and physical body that enables you to enjoy life freely;
- By doing so, your overall vibration rises, changing your energy structures and enabling you to resonate with higher beneficial frequencies than before;
- This will also change your resonance, preventing you from exposing yourself to circumstances with low-vibrational emotions;
The balance you gain will make dealing with harmful influences much smoother.
NOTE: The following are possible benefits that many practitioners, including myself, experienced. Still, these are not Reiki techniques for beginners, but similar effects can show up once you start performing the self-treatment regularly. With time, you’ll be able to address these issues more precisely.
Using Reiki To Lower Your Anxiety Levels
Anxiety comes from inner restlessness and an inability to understand and harmonize with the world around you. Whenever you feel out of place and have difficulty accepting and understanding that things happen for a reason, anxiety kicks in.
Reiki can help clear out the negative energies that accompany the feeling of anxiety. Even the first sessions can gradually lower the anxiety levels, allowing the beneficial healing energies and entities to enter.
This is a non-intrusive, gentle and effective way to ease anxiety. It may also alleviate the physical symptoms often experienced, such as tightness in the chest and difficulty breathing.
Help Heal Depression With Reiki
Similar to anxiety, depression is the effect of a lack of harmony with your inner-self and the world around you.
Even if the two are different, they share several similarities.
Depression usually implies a longing for a past time that made you feel whole and happy. However, it may also manifest as the effect of an unfulfilled desire or goal that brought a great deal of suffering.
When this happens, parts of the energy of your soul scatter, creating an inner discord and making you vulnerable to specific low-vibrational energies.
Through the flow of the universal life force energy, Reiki dissolves those low-vibrational energies and removes the negative pattern of depression.
By raising your overall vibration and changing your resonance, the effects of depression can gradually become obsolete.
This is not to say that Reiki will make all your problems disappear but will help you find a new perspective and strength to deal with them more effectively.
Surfacing the root cause is what makes Reiki special. This awareness will give you the power to make decisions and consciously concentrate your efforts where needed.
Overcoming Fear With Reiki
Typically, fear originates from an absence of information and experience. Therefore, it’s normal to be afraid of something new. However, there are pathological fears that you may have no idea where they originate.
Most of the time, these worries emerge during childhood and later transition into programs that stick with you for years.
Even though fears take a long time to heal, the universal life force energy has the ability to dissolve the energy and information of these programs.
The Reiki self-treatment can handle the gradual healing of most emotional imbalances in general. Sometimes though, a more focused and straightforward approach is required. Guided meditations can be beneficial in these cases.
When it comes to addressing your fears, it’s best to start with the ones bothering you the most. Also, it’s recommended to work on only one worry at a time. Be patient and don’t give up easily because it takes time to see results.
Reiki For Self-Sabotage
You will be amazed how many people manage to self-sabotage themselves. Even advanced Reiki practitioners, masters, or spiritual-oriented people go through this. From creating residual thoughts or contradictive mental patterns, we all go through this phase at least once in our life.
This is quite an extensive topic that deserves a separate article. Still, to make a long story short, the best cure and protection is related to increasing the vibration of your brain.
This implies focusing on treating the superior energy centers and allowing the universal energy to heal your structures. This will dissolve negative energies and thoughts that create discordant behaviors.
Reiki and meditation are some of the best choices for dealing with self-sabotage.
What Are The Side Effects Of Reiki
Reiki doesn’t have any known side effects, and it is generally considered a safe healing modality. However, as with any form of energy healing, there are a few potential risks that you should be aware of.
The main one is the period during and/or after the 21 days of self-treatment. This is also known as the “healing crisis.”
Of course, everybody will experience it differently.
• Some might feel nothing at all, while others could have mild symptoms such as headaches, nausea, or fatigue. It’s also possible that you will feel hyper-energized or like crying all the time.
These are normal and nothing to worry about.
Even so, such side effects are infrequent and usually occur when the individual requires deep cleansing.
In my years of practice, I’ve only met a handful of people who went through some of the symptoms mentioned above. So there’s not much to worry about. It’s normal to feel discomfort as your body releases old patterns and residual energies.
The best approach would be to avoid heavy meals, alcohol, and other substances during this time. Instead, drink lots of water and get enough rest. Let your body do its thing, and it will go back to normal soon enough.
• A more accurate and common side effect of practicing Reiki constantly for 21 days or longer is raising your vibration to levels you might not be used to. In turn, this requires grounding to function normally in the physical world.
That’s why I always recommend keeping a balanced lifestyle. You don’t need to isolate yourself from the rest of the world to practice Reiki or to have a spiritual experience.
Being part of this world means we have to learn to harmonize at all levels.
OPPORTUNITIES
Combining Reiki With Different Elements
Reiki is a flexible spiritual practice that you can blend with meditation, allopathic medicine, and even other therapies.
Let’s see how different elements can complement Reiki and help you in your spiritual journey.
The universal energy is accessible to us all and once you grasp the process, it can help you be in tune with your entire energetic system, spirit guides, and inner self.
Yet, the real knowledge we enjoy today is the result of exploring Reiki through different lenses.
For example:
Reiki did not incorporate the concept of chakras initially.
Even though they are a millenary idea, chakras were added to the practice during the second half of the last century.
So using the Reiki healing energy to balance the chakras came as a significant contribution and progress.
You can incorporate hundreds of meditations with Reiki to create different experiences. You may also use Reiki to complement and enhances the beneficial effects of Qi-Gong, Theta Healing, Tantra Yoga, and many others.
Qi-Gong works mainly with the inner, vital energy.
But some meditations enable you to absorb the power generated by nature.
Therefore, adding the Reiki self-treatment will help amplify your sensitivity levels, perception of energy, and the full beneficial effect that a practice like Qi-Gong offers.
And it doesn’t end here!
Blending Reiki with another practice will bring a distinct set of positive results. Some will help you become more in tune with nature and your physical body, while others will enhance your ability to observe your inner potential.
There are also those that can guide you towards a higher level of consciousness and make you more aware of your spiritual role.
The truth is that the benefits are countless. The best way to explore them is by trying different combinations and finding out what works best for you.
Amplify The Healing Power Of Crystals With Reiki
Authentic crystals have a natural connection to Earth’s power. Therefore, each of them has a unique vibration and the ability to manifest a certain energy level.
You can cleanse and energize crystals with Reiki to enhance their ability to channel energy. You may even attune them to become small beacons of light.
What Are Crystals Good For
- Black tourmaline, black onyx, and smoky quartz are great for absorbing residual and negative energies;
- Amethyst, clear quartz, and citrine can amplify the universal life force energy flow through and around you;
- Flourite, red smoky quartz (or reddish crystals in general), and amazonite can potentially cleanse and stimulate the structures of your chakras and energetic fields;
These are just a few examples, but there are countless more. Remember that at a spiritual level, crystals are living beings that you can “train” to help support your everyday life.
You don’t have to worry too much about these elements as a beginner because practicing the techniques for Reiki level 1 can go a long way. However, it’s helpful to have them in mind and add them once you feel ready.
Reiki And Music
Each tune has a certain frequency, both acoustically and energetically. So you connect to that energy type and information when you play a song.
High-vibrational music such as 432Hz, 528Hz, or 741Hz relates to the different manifestations of the universal life force energy.
That’s why the right type of music can be a helpful tool in cleansing your energy fields and surroundings.
In addition, particular chants, mantras, or prayers are very efficient in removing residual and negative energies.
On the other hand, more dynamic songs will make you feel happy, energized, and motivated. But unfortunately, some tunes bring a low vibrational level into the physical plane. Occasionally these can lead to depression, anxiety, and feelings of unworthiness.
• When you listen to a piece of music, your brainwaves will attune to the frequency of that song. This is called brainwave entrainment. In other words, if you hear a lot of low-frequency music, your brainwaves will eventually match those frequencies – and vice-versa.
The same is true for using Reiki with sounds in general.
Adding high-vibrational music to your meditations and Reiki therapy is one of the best combinations you can ask for. You’ll unwind and become more in tune with your soul and inner-self.
Music can “lift you up” if you play the correct tune at the right time.
Reiki And Incense
People have been using incense since the dawn of civilization to:
- Relax their minds;
- Create a certain mood;
- Cleanse a space;
Each type of incense connects to a specific frequency and energy, as with music. Therefore, burning or heating different incense types will result in other effects.
For example, if you burn sage, it will cleanse the space of any negative energy. If you burn lavender, it will help you relax. Incense can also contribute to stimulating certain energy centers and energy fields.
The transmutation of elements it’s also symbolic. It represents our inner transformation from residual to useful, negative to positive, and inert to energetic.
Apart from the cleansing effect, burning incense can also assist your mind in connecting to a deeper frequency. This brings clarity and can enhance the self-treatment.
Try practicing Reiki while listening to high-vibrational music and burning frankincense or any other incense you resonate with. Asses this small experiment and adjust from there.
NOTE: Not everybody resonates with all fragrances or can handle strong smells. Make sure you are in a well-ventilated space and start with a small quantity if you are new to using incense. Explore and find what you like but never force yourself into using what others recommend.
Using Reiki On Animals
Generally speaking, cats, dogs, and larger mammals such as horses are sensitive to energy fluctuations. They can sense when something or someone is beneficial to them and will naturally approach you if your intentions are benevolent.
They also have energy centers, fields, and channels similar to ours. So you can send Reiki whenever your intuition dictates if it’s your pet.
They will either fall asleep or move away. If this happens, don’t chase them around. Instead, let them sit and rest because they know precisely when they have received enough energy.
Your pet is part of your life and in a constant connection with your energy fields.
This means that besides the shared affection, pets also absorb our residual and negative energies. So, it is recommended to offer them Reiki as a sign of love and respect from time to time.
Reiki For Children
Children are spirits with divine potential and individual lessons they need to acknowledge.
They are present in our lives for a spiritual reason beyond the simple desire to raise them.
One of the ways to support their development is to offer Reiki. But, of course, this can be quite challenging because most children will not have the patience to stay calm for a complete Reiki treatment – which is perfectly normal.
Therefore, if you want to offer them Reiki, the best way is to use the distance healing method.
This will allow them to manifest as they please while still benefiting from the universal life force energy flow. In addition, it can calm their emotional state and balance their physical activity while also receiving healing energy.
NOTE: If you ever consider giving Reiki to someone else’s child, always ask for the parent’s consent. If possible, having a mother’s approval is the most important because they share the strongest connection.
Where To Go From Here
Although Reiki is one of the most straightforward spiritual practices, it’s a vast subject that can take a lifetime to master.
As a result, one may experience many perspectives and travel on various paths.
While some are happy with having just the first two levels, others constantly feel the need to progress. Systems like Karuna Reiki or Shamballa Reiki offer even more attunements and symbols to work with.
Each approach has unique benefits, and there is no right or wrong way to practice Reiki. It will always depend individual preferences and how one’s journey unfolds.
Having multiple attunements doesn’t necessarily make you a better practitioner.
At the same time, using Reiki level 1 your entire life doesn’t mean you’re restricted in your growth.
The key is to flow with what feels suitable for you and be open to new possibilities.
What Is Your Next Step As A Beginner
If you are not attuned but interested in starting practicing Reiki, then I recommend finding a Reiki teacher you resonate with and receiving your first attunement.
If you’ve passed this first step, my advice is to… Keep Practicing!
Time and experience will reveal the answers to questions you don’t know how to ask right now. They will guide your way and tell you what to do next.

•
There is no need to rush or feel like you’re falling behind.
Every practitioner develops at their own pace.
Also, remember that Reiki is a personal experience, and there are no actual rules on how to practice it.
The only thing that will help you grow and understand yourself from a spiritual perspective is pure action. This will differentiate you from those who are not interested in knowing more about themselves or the world they live in.
Once you start lifting your vibration, your resonance will change as well. When this happens, you’ll attract what’s beneficial for you and your evolution.
By being at peace with yourself, others will benefit. Little by little, Reiki practitioners can influence the world around them and make it a better place.
